It’s been a busy summer here at SkillHero helping our middle school and high school partners prepare for the return of students this fall. Many K-12 schools, from Illinois to Texas, have chosen to partner with SkillHero and offer our software as a valuable resource for students completely free of charge.

## SkillHero - A Resource for Students All Year

While any individual can join SkilHero and become a member at any time, schools who chose to partner with us gain access to a broad range of capabilities designed to provide additional support to their student population, such as personalized onboarding, complete school profile page featured on the network, public and private messaging capability, support with work-based learning opportunities and more. Schools are choosing to enroll their students on SkillHero to ensure that all students have an opportunity to achieve success post graduation, not just those students on the path to a four year degree.

CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- SkillHero is proud to announce the launch of ApprenticeConnect, the largest searchable database of construction apprenticeships, currently in Illinois and Wisconsin. ApprenticeConnect allows SkillHero members to easily explore, filter, and apply for apprenticeships that align with their career aspirations.

"University students have support in launching their careers and they know where to go to apply for jobs online. But a high school student or veteran who wants to become a carpenter doesn't know where to go to get started," said Quincy Nadel, Chief Operating Officer at SkillHero. "Outside of the university ecosystem, the recruiting pipeline is broken. SkillHero exists to fix that, and with the launch of ApprenticeConnect we're removing a critical barrier to entry for people looking to launch their career in the skilled trades."

Apprenticeship opportunities have traditionally been indexed manually, creating physical siloes of outdated information, making it extremely difficult for tradespeople to locate and apply for these opportunities. By digitizing and databasing hundreds of paid learning programs and making them easily searchable, SkillHero is making career opportunities more accessible.

The new database includes over 100 open apprenticeships from both union and non-union organizations. Today, SkillHero members can search for career opportunities across the construction sector, including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing and filter apprenticeships based on skills, certifications and geographic location. The database also includes information on salaries, benefits packages, and job requirements for entry into an apprenticeship program. Using their profile information, members can apply directly to apprenticeships with one-click and then track their progress through the candidate process all within the SkillHero application.

SkillHero plans to expand the database to include apprenticeship opportunities for additional skilled trade careers beyond Construction and located across all 50 states. SkillHero is free for anyone to join.

## We're looking for more than a few good experienced tradespeople to serve as mentors to folks new to the trades or considering a career in the trades.

Show them the ropes, help them understand what it takes to become a tradesman, how to know an Acorn from an Atomic, and not to send them off to find a bucket of steam or a left handed hammer.

In times past, this knowledge was usually handed down from family member to family member. There are a lot of people who have interest in the trades that don't have that connection. That could be you!
